TOLEDO, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 11, 2007--Health Care REIT, Inc. (NYSE:HCN) announced that it intends to offer, subject to market and other conditions, 5,000,000 shares of its common stock. Health Care REIT intends to grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 750,000 shares to cover over allotments, if any. The shares of common stock will be registered under Health Care REIT's existing shelf registration statement on file with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Health Care REIT intends to use the net proceeds of the offering to invest in additional senior housing and health care properties. Pending such use, the proceeds will primarily be used to repay borrowings under the company's unsecured line of credit arrangements.
