Health Care REIT, Inc. Announces Increase in Quarterly Dividend

TOLEDO, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 20, 2004--Health Care REIT, Inc. (NYSE:HCN) announced today that its Board of Directors declared a dividend for the quarter ended March 31, 2004, of $0.60 per share as compared to $0.585 per share for the same period in 2003.

The dividend is a one and one-half cent increase from the dividend paid for the fourth quarter of 2003 and represents the 132nd consecutive dividend payment. The dividend will be payable May 20, 2004, to stockholders of record on April 30, 2004.
